WHAT IS CROSSFIT?

Created by Coach Greg Glassman, CrossFit is a fitness system meant to help people develop an “increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains.” This means that CrossFit isn’t necessarily designed to get you better at one skill or fitness attribute; instead, it’s engineered to help you develop multiple skills and strengths at varying levels of intensity and time. You probably won’t become the strongest person on the planet with CrossFit, but you will become stronger, faster, and able to do more work across various disciplines.

If you try a class, you’ll do a workout of the day (WOD), which will more than likely include a met-con (metabolic conditioning session). In a met-con, you’ll try to get as many rounds or reps as you can in a given amount of time. The movements, rounds, reps, and other details always vary, so you never know what to expect. One day you could run 400M and do pull-ups, and the next day you could be doing kettlebell swings, burpees, and box jumps.

But CrossFit goes beyond that. Good boxes will invest time to coach you how to do technical compound lifts and Olympic lifts, skills like double-unders and kipping pull-ups, and even running and rowing techniques.

Another great thing about CrossFit workouts is that they don’t require a special gym or coach. Marcus Hendren, for example, started his CrossFit journey with the ultra-tough workout “Lumberjack 20.” “I was looking for another outlet to compete,” says the ex-collegiate football player. “I’d always loved working out and heard about CrossFit, so I decided to give it a try.”

GROUP FITNESS CLASSES
Whether you are a recent graduate of CrossFit Predators Fundamentals or an advanced athlete, this class is for you. We expertly program to build functional strength and conditioning through workouts of the day (WODs) which we scale to every fitness ability. Our programming offers a comprehensive environment for athletes of all levels to work on progressive skills, exercise knowledge, capacity in the movements, and strength appropriate to their current level.

We believe in the CrossFit methodology which focuses on preparing our members the best we can for any physical and mental challenge that life throws at them. Our 60-minute WOD classes will typically consist of a warm up, mobility session, strength and/skill work, a heart pumping metcon and finally a cool down. But in true CrossFit style, come prepared to take on the unknown and unknowable because chances are you’ll be in for a few fun surprises that don’t follow that format.

The focus of these classes is to develop a general physical preparedness for life around the 10 general physical skills: cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, strength, speed, stamina, power, accuracy, balance, coordination, agility, and flexibility.
WEIGHTLIFTING
Our Weightlifting coach is USAW certified as well as certified under Catalyst Athletics. The program is for all ages and is considered to be one of the best in the area. You will learn easy fundamentals about how to lift safely and properly to maximize your power and energy. This is not only for weightlifters, this course teaches everyone from young to old, female or male how move a barbell properly. This allows everyone not to be intimidated by the bar in front of them.
INDIVIDUAL TRAINING
Sign up for CrossFit Predators Individual training programs where one of our world class coaches will work with you to help define your goals, conduct a comprehensive assessment of your fitness level, and coach you through a program designed specifically for your needs. This is the best option for those athletes who are serious about taking their training to the next level. This is also a great option for membership who would prefer not to be in group classes.

Let’s be honest: The fitness industry is somewhat screwed up. Anyone can call himself a personal trainer, whether he took a weekend course or did a four-year educational program.

We train our coaches, they all go through a two-year apprentice coach diploma program. In short, your coach knows what he’s talking about—how to keep you working toward you goals, and how to keep you injury-free.

Medical Exercise Specialist
A Medical Exercise Specialist is a medical fitness professional who not only works with the typical client looking to improve their health and fitness level; but he or she also has the knowledge and skills to work with clients with a wide range of medical conditions. These atypical clients are “medical exercise or post rehab” in that they are referred to a fitness professional after completion of a rehabilitation program and now need a fitness program tailored to their particular medical condition.
Fundamentals Program
When you started training with us, you will go through a one-on-one introductory session with a coach, and then you will be recommended a set number of personal training sessions based on your current fitness level with the same coach, where he/she worked with you on your strengths and weaknesses and get you prepared for classes at a speed that was comfortable for you. And before you graduated to group classes, you will have gone through most of the movements, learn how to track your workouts, learn nutrition, learn mobility skills tailored to your specific needs, and have built a fundamental base of cardiovascular development.
CrossFit
CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time. Intensity is essential for results and is measurable as work divided by time—or power. The more work you do in less time, or the higher the power output, the more intense the effort. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness.
Olympic Weightlifting
The sport of weightlifting consists of two lifts: the snatch and the clean & jerk. In the snatch, the weightlifter lifts the barbell from the floor to overhead in a single movement. In the clean & jerk, the weightlifter lifts the barbell first from the floor to the shoulders (the clean) and then from the shoulders to overhead (the jerk).

In a competition, each weightlifter has three attempts in the snatch and three attempts in the clean & jerk. The weight of the best of each lifts is added to create the weightlifter's total, and the best total wins.

We have a strong and passionate coaching staff, made up of like-minded individuals, hailing from an array of athletic and academic backgrounds. Whether it is competing at the CrossFit Games, being a weekend warrior, or fighting fires, they work hard to create unique perspectives for the members.

The coaching staff shares Coach Glassman’s belief in fitness, and aim to push results through virtuosity in all they do. We are committed to forging a strong community through CrossFit’s methodologies and movements. We aim to empower those that take on the quest of improving their fitness and health. CrossFit Predators ultimate goal is to have a group of athletes that move well, feel good, smile often, and perform to the upper limits of their capacities every day. I have been going to this CrossFit for a couple of months now and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. I Walk in being greeted with a hug by Pamela and getting top notch training from Gary I walk out knowing this gym is worth every dime, minute, and squat.
My body was severely injured in a car accident years ago. I made the decision to have double disc replacement almost two years ago. I have been scared to death to try and work out and soon became so overweight that I was just embarrassed to walk into a gym. A close friend convinced me to go see Gary and he felt strongly that Gary could carefully train me and rehabilitate me. It’s been a short 2 months but I am feeling stronger, more confident, and healthier than I have in longer than I can remember. I’m looking forward to continuing sculpting my body into one I can be proud of and I know that Gary and Pamela will be with me every step of the way.

When looking into a gym to train i looked for a place that has trainers with vast amounts of knowledge and YEARS of experience training clients. And that when i found CrossFit Predators. My biggest “must have” in a gym is coaching. With a lot of CrossFit gyms and gyms in general you get coaches/trainers who just make you overwork without a goal in mind besides “lets workout til we puke” and thats what they call a good workout. On top of that they could have just got a cert in a weekend and opened a gym the next day. Thats not the case with CrossFit Predators. Coach Gary has a wealth of professional experience and the certifications to boot. And most importantly, he knows how to apply the knowledge to training his clients. His technical knowledge with lifts is immense and hes catching things i would have never noticed in my already impeccable form (lol i have a waysss to go but thats why im here). Their technical knowledge cant be beat. and I’ve only been going a few months and have noticed a change in my cardio and body composition. Love all the coaches (Pam, Kasey) and love the atmosphere. Gym has nothing but good people and people who encourage you at every step!
